Hello
This is a page to display my work as a high school journalist and hopefully, any future work I do.
My Story
Since I was little, even when my tiny mind couldn’t understand things when written out, I loved flipping through the newspapers I would find around my house. They would be stacked on the kitchen table along with other formerly neatly arranged envelopes until my little hands found their way to them, or tucked in the bathroom. Somewhere, someway in my house I always found my grasp around the thin white pages. These pages were filled with information I couldn’t quite comprehend but nonetheless found so interesting. This was one of the stepping stones that led me to take Journalism in my first year of high school, but also ultimately made me realize my passion for journalism.
I didn’t take into account beforehand my social awkwardness and fear of going up to strangers and striking up conversations. This was obviously a big part of the class. As much as I strived to become a journalist I locked up when it came to pulling kids out of class for interviews. Nonetheless, I knew I had to work around it, so I did. By the end of my sophomore year and even more so my junior year I became outgoing. This shift in attitude eventually led to me taking on more responsibilities and becoming an Editor in my junior year and Co-Editor-in-Chief my senior year.
Through my experiences that have come from the Eagles Eye program, I’ve been able to see what true journalism is. This program has truly solidified the dream I’ve had since fifth grade.
